Frequently Asked Questions
We can handle the entire investigation process over the phone/internet or we can meet at a location of your choice. It’s up to you how you want to handle that part. We will ask you a series of questions about your case in order to create an investigative plan. Once we agree on the plan, we will email you an electronic agreement for services and the invoice. After that is taken care of, you will send us pictures of the subject, their schedule, their work information, their vehicle information and their physical description. We will agree on a time and place to commence the surveillance and once we arrive on the scene, we will begin sending you updates via text message or email. At the end of the surveillance, we will email you the video footage. If you need an official report for court purposes, we can provide one at the rate of $75/day of surveillance.
Information on our rates can be found here: Private Investigator Cost – Grey Ghost Investigations (gginvestigator.com)
Yes, we will. You will tell us what you prefer (e.g. photos or video) at the beginning of the investigation and we will provide it for you.
You are welcome to read the numerous testimonials across the web about our agency. You may also contact the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services and ask them about our disciplinary record. If you have any additional questions about our background, you are more than welcome to ask us.
Please gather all information about the subject of the investigation, including pictures and any other important information. Then, open a brand new email account that you will use to communicate with us (to make sure that the subject will not have any access to it). Make sure that you use a safe phone as well. After you’ve made your preparations, just act natural (especially if the subject of the investigation is your spouse). So, if you and your spouse fight all the time, continue doing that. Don’t change any patterns of interaction and please also remember to limit the amount of people to whom you disclose that you’ve hired a private investigator. As a matter of fact, it would be wise to keep this fact to yourself, at least until the investigation is completed.
We will keep you updated during the course of the surveillance. We do our best to inform our clients on the status of the investigation hourly. Sometimes our investigators might run a few minutes behind since they are busy doing the surveillance, but rest assured that we will keep you updated throughout the entire process.
If the subject exits the tricounty area (Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach) we will first call you to get approval for continuing outside the area. If you agree to that, we will bill you at the rate of $0.56 per mile. We cannot tell you what the total will be in advance, since we will not know where the subject will be going. But, know that you can cancel the surveillance at any time.
We can only use a GPS device if the car the subject drives belongs to you.
No, those are considered private and it is illegal for anyone to get you that information.
When you hire us, you pay for our investigators’ time, not for what they find. If the subject does not move during the four hours, that is outside of our control and being that we’ve done our job by watching the subject, we cannot refund any of your money. This is why it’s most important to be sure about the subject’s activities prior to sending us out. We only provide refunds for situations involving investigative errors – such as following the wrong vehicle, etc. We do not provide refunds for issues that are out of our control.
No, all fees are payable in advance.
We offer discounts for multiple days of surveillance and also for active military personal and senior citizens.
No, we do not get involved in those types of investigations. Our job is to observe, not to interfere. We are your eyes and ears on the street. Anything more than that, we consider as intrusive and immoral.
Yes we can and we will refuse to provide the service. We check for restraining orders and previous Domestic Violence cases prior to agreeing to taking your case. We can, however, deal with your attorney directly and send him/her all the findings of the investigation.
Yes, we will. Same rates apply for court testimony as for surveillance. The four hour minimum retainer fee will also remain in effect.
